Angel & Faith cover issue 7 s9

An earlier version of this cover had been released with a slightly less baked version of Angel's face lol, but the fixed version above is what will see print. I was so caught up  rendering Dru and detailing her dress, that by the time I was coloring Angel, my objectivity was out the window...A little time away remedied the problem though.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer issue 5 s9

Since this was my last issue of Buffy, I decided to go bananas...actually I would have done this cover even if I was scheduled to do more, but I'm glad the last one was the craziest. I wanted to dress her in something that she might ogle over in  a magazine, but would most likely never have the circumstance to wear, as she's not a woman of leisure lol. Beyond the pure aesthetics, the pattern and flow of the dress were good vehicles for seamlessly merging the imagery in the lower half.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer issue 4 s9

Thwarted by my earlier attempt at using a ribbon motif on the "Serenity: The Shepherd's Tale" cover, I thought this Buffy cover would be ideal for an adaptation of it. In this case, it's a bit of an Escher homage...on the Serenity cover it entailed ribbons (with an angry face) pealing away from Book's head to reveal a peaceful Book.

The Occultist cover, issue 1 of 3

Continuing from The Occultist one-shot, Dark Horse is releasing  a 3 issue limited series for the title, which I've done covers for. This first issue is a wraparound, due out in November. Also, the House of Night image I did for the SDCC wall, will be the variant cover for the comic release of HoN, in Nov. I'll post the HoN cover when I see a version with the logo on it, but there is some info  and art on PC Cast's blog.

Angel & Faith cover, issue 3

This started as a sketch for the cover of issue 1, but Dark Horse chose a different sketch for #1, and decided to use this idea for another cover. You can see on the sketch (if you click though) that the composition had London in the distance with Angel and Faith in a cemetery...so I need to change some elements so that the image looked independent from issue 1.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer cover, season 9 issue 2

When I originally showed the sketch for this cover to Dark Horse, the composition was flipped vertically , so Buffy was over the demon, and I think she was standing as opposed to falling. DH felt that the demon needed to to be more imposing, so I flipped the sketch and did some minor editing. I've included the edited sketch if you click through to see the rest of the post.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer cover, issue 1 season 9

Along with "Angel & Faith" I'll be doing a few Buffy covers, which was an unexpected surprise. Often liking to push story content into abstract and conceptual visuals, this cover is no exception although I can't explain the idea without giving story away. Buffy originally had a quizzical expression, but Dark Horse decided that on this first cover of the new season, she should be more placidly faced...which was probably for the better because I'm not sure I had the mouth correct on the first one. Note: I updated the old image with this new one...I was never quite happy with Buffy's face but deadlines are deadlines. After having not seen it in a long while, I realized the face really needed some editing, so I went to it. I believe this version is what will appear on the printed comic.
